Amanda's Gratitude Challenge

Amanda's Gratitude Challenge

November 25, 2024

This holiday season we challenge you to focus on the positive. It is so easy to get weighed down by all of the negativity going on around us, and we want to bring some light to our community. We asked you to write a short blog describing how consignment, shopping resale, or Amanda's Exchange has positively affected you or someone you know.

Thank you for sharing your stories! These were all so moving to read, and we appreciate you taking the time to share.

Enjoy!

"Amanda's Exchange has offered me MUCH shop therapy in a cost effective manner while having to bounce from a DV relationship of 20 years resulting in divorce. As a Sign Language interpreter the finances are not always stable yet I love my job and the Deaf Community. Shopping at your store has enabled me to be able to have pretty things and feel classy in a humble home all the while helping pay for my kids college, their apartment rent due to covid job loss and getting new car tires. I love going to your store for most gifts for my loved ones and telling others about your store. I am really happy that you all stopped with bags and we have to bring our own in now...what a great way to save our planet and influence others to make conscious choices. I am SO glad you all remain open and survived Covid. Way to ROCK it Amanda's Exchange! Most of my home decor , jewelry, and boots are thanks to you and your affordable prices. I am SUPER grateful." -Brook

"Amanda‘s is always a top-of-the-list requested holiday activity for my visiting out of state family. Not only do we treasure the time together, but we also all feel good about giving our found treasures a second life. Thank you Amanda!" -Elizabeth

"We were hosting our most special event of the year at Fishers Flower Farm and I was looking for something to wear. I had a dress in mind but didn’t want to buy it full-price or new; it seemed silly to have it shipped from far away - I’m very conscious of slow vs fast fashion, etc. My mom & I decided to check out our fave, Amanda’s. I kid you not, the exact dress I had been looking at online was on a mannequin when we walked into the store, and it was in my budget. It also fit perfectly, which never happens with dresses. We couldn’t believe it. My mom found her dress as well - the who experience was so pleasant and perfect, it was totally meant to be. We are so grateful for Amanda’s!" - Mackenzie (pictured above)

"I was recently diagnosed with terminal cancer at the age of 50. Prior to diagnosis I visited Amanda’s at least once a week. It was my favorite get away. With the diagnosis I quickly developed neuropathy in my feet and can not walk much of a distance with out being exhausted and numbness in feet. I am so happy that Amanda’s have an online shop. I can view new items and decide to either have them shipped or go to the store and view those items quickly with out having to search the entire store. As any woman knows shopping just brings joy and with all the things cancer has changed , I can still feel like my normal self before my cancer diagnosis. Thank you Amanda’s Exchange." -Karen

"I am on the Weight Watchers program and have lost weight over a couple of years. I have reached my goal weight but it caused havic in my closet. I went down several sizes but I needed to get rid of clothes that were too big and have clothes that fit (some only temporary). So I could exchange clothes at Amanda's and not pay full price for temporary things and get some $$ to apply forward." -Kay Watson

“Our family has known Amanda’s family since her sons were in high school!  I love to shop at Amandas Exchange because of the surprise “discoveries” at such reasonable prices, soothing music and charming personnel.
Recently, Amanda’s Exchange has helped our family sell items that have been given to us as a donation to our family’s non profit ministry in Nairobi, Kenya.  When our son Timothy Winston, died suddenly at age 36, our family needed to honor his life in a practical way.   The “Drop in Center” for school age children who live in the Mathare slum outside Nairobi, provides tutoring, nutrition, Bible &prayer in love to vulnerable children. This year we began the “Tim Clark Educational Center” providing preschool children daily with nutrition, teaching program in Christian love.
Thank you Amanda & your dedicated staff for being a huge part of our family’s ministry to honor our son. Sincerely, Nancy Clark” (pictured above)

"My friend K started cleaning out her closets and slowly over time paid off over $20k in debt. Slow and steady she was spreading the sunshine while she got financially stable. If she can do it, we all can!!" -H

"I became acquainted with Amanda's on my first visit to Carmel and have loved it ever since. It became especially important during the pandemic--I learned that shopping online with Amanda was really the answer to a prayer. Living in New York and working in the entertainment industry, I always try to look a bit glam at the events I attend, and Amanda's has provided me with jackets and tops that I never would have found on my own. Outfits I wear on my annual Queen Mary crossing never fail to garner compliments.

I've begun recommending Amanda to my friends--the wide range of items available online make it impossible to not find something perfect for yourself. Just yesterday a package arrived which include a perfect item for a Christmas gift at a superb price.

On my last visit, I bought so much that I had to FEDEX it home! Well worth it!! Best wishes for a glorious holiday season to Amanda and all the lovely people who work at Amanda's Exchange!" -Jaqueline Parker

"I love shopping resale—it reminds me of a childhood highlight of receiving hand-me-downs from my mom’s friends with girls a little older than me. It was so much fun to see what was being shared! Shopping resale is full of wonderful surprises, and it is a terrific way to participate in recycling. It’s my favorite way to shop! Thank you for providing a great resale shop!" -Carol F.
