Where We Donate

The Julian Center

When you consign with Amanda's Exchange, you're already choosing sustainability over waste. But even the best-loved items sometimes don't sell, or a consignor decides to donate their expired or damaged pieces instead of taking them back. And when a customer chooses to simply "drop and donate" instead of consigning — that generosity goes even further than a fresh closet.

Every one of those items is donated to Thrifty Threads, a thrift store and donation center owned and operated by The Julian Center.

The Julian Center is Indiana's largest organization supporting survivors of domestic and sexual violence. When someone leaves an abusive relationship, they often leave with little more than the clothes on their back. Thrifty Threads exists so survivors can shop free of charge for the clothing, shoes, linens, and household basics they need to start over.

Here's how your donation helps:

  • Survivors shop the racks at Thrifty Threads at no cost, choosing what they need to rebuild their lives and their children's lives.
  • Anything not claimed by clients is sold to the public, and the proceeds fund The Julian Center's victim programs and services — shelter, advocacy, legal aid, and the 24-hour crisis line.
  • In 2023 alone, Thrifty Threads gave out $24,000 in shopping vouchers to survivors in need.

So whether it's a coat that didn't sell, a toy with a small scuff, or a bag of clothes you just want gone — when it leaves Amanda's Exchange as a donation, it's headed somewhere it can still do a lot of good.

Amanda's Exchange is proud to partner with Thrifty Threads and The Julian Center. Learn more at juliancenter.org/thrifty-threads.
